That Friday Feeling!

This week of dull racing is almost over, we can look forward to a decent few days racing at the weekend. Though I'm not the biggest flat racing fan I am looking forward to the cards at Lingfield and Meydan on Saturday and then the two Guineas trial races at Leopardstown on Sunday.

I'm happy with the way the blog is going over the first few days, making a little profit so far. I have one selection for tomorrow at Newbury though I do think Arctic Lynx at Lingfield is interesting at 6/1. He has looked very progressive this season, his profile took a hit when he could only finish 5th in the Sprint Series Final though. The winner, Norville, is involved again today but on 6lb better terms in Arctic Lynx's favour, I think Arctic Lynx has a good chance. He failed to pick up in the expected style last time but he was backed well before hand going off a fairly short priced favourite. He can continue his progress today and he is a good e/way bet to nothing in my opinion.

The blog selection though, another progressive sort:

15:50 Newbury Oakley Coachbuilders Novices' Chase
Winterwood bounced back to record a victory last time out and a 7lb rise doesn't look too much as he's won off this mark of hurdles in the past. The trip is fine having won over it last time and the quicker ground shouldn't be a problem having won on good ground over hurdles. My main worry is his inconsistent profile, he seems to put in plenty of shockers in between good runs and taking that into consideration I would have to be against him at his current 4/1 odds. The likes of Patsy Finnegan are considered too but he need to prove he stays this far on quick ground, he makes costly mistakes late in on his races and he has no room for error in this competitive race. River D'Or ran well before winning in France but would ideally be suited by slower ground and Bai Zhu is likely to need to drop a few lbs befoe he is a winning a handicap. Frankie Anson switched yards during the winter after winning his last start for Alan Swinbank. He had Wolf Moon 20+ Lengths behind on his first start of the year off level weights, Wolf Moon had previously won a handicap off 125 and was sent off as short as 10/1 for the Stewart Family Spinal Research Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. Frankie Anson was only beaten by the progressive Mostly Bob who went on to run in the Racing Post Chase (Fell 3rd) and one of the big handicap chases at Cheltenham in which his amateur rider never gave him a chance of winning. Frankie Anson needs quicker ground to be seen at his best, he stays well and jumps well enough. His latest effort off this mark was promising and with that run under his belt he should strip fitter. I expect a bold showing.

Selection:
Frankie Anson
1pt win @ 9/2 Paddy Power.

Best of luck with your bets today.
