Dream Of Glory Ahead.

I wasn't around yesterday to watch the racing so I'm not sure if there was anything much to taken from the racing at all. The blog selection managed to get his head infront though. Kercabellec won the 14:30 Hereford after some decent jumping and pulled away from 14/1 shot Wee Ziggy close home. He'll have to improve to go in again under a penalty but his attitude of late has been respectable and he may just have that improvement inside himself.

Selection:
Kercabellec 2pts win @ 5/2+. Result - 1st @ 5/2.

Daily Profit: +5pts.
Overall Profit: +3.1pts.

I'll make todays blog quick as I've struggled to find anything worth backing today and as such I'll be leaving racing alone for the afternoon, I will however try and point you in the way of my fancy for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in the coming months.

2000 Guineas - Newmarket
Dream Ahead is a learning and improving double Group 1 winner. He looked green on his first two british starts, he drifted left-handed on debut and in his middle park demolition, which was officially the best performance in the Middle Park for 2 decades. He showed signs of wanting to hang on his latest start behind Frankel in the Dewhurst but resisted the temptation. The ground was reported by William Buick as 'too loose' for this Diktat colt even though he'd already won on soft ground. He was rated 5lb higher than Frankel by the BHA and 2lb by RPR's before that race which suggests he was expected to put up a bold showing against Henry Cecil's high-class colt. Frankel is currently an even money favourite for the 2000 Guineas in May on merit but that looks too short with plenty likely to line up who can put it up to him. Dream Ahead is a big frame of a horse, he had plenty of scope to improve and grow into himself. It's been reported that he has wintered well and has improved throughout. He's back cantering and though he hasn't done any heavy workouts there has been plenty to like about his attitude already. He was at one point 5/1 second favourite for the 2000 Guineas but after not even placing behind Frankel he drifted right out to 16/1. The way I see it, that is a huge price and has to be worth an e/way bet.

Selection:
Dream Ahead
1pts e/way @ 16/1 Paddy Power.

Best of luck with all your bets.

  1. Looks to have a very good chance of making the frame Martin. 16/1 each way is better than taking the odds on about Frankel even if he is a machine.

  2. I think he has a good chance of winning the race myself, the only worry I have is the ground. He won't want to too quick so hopefully they'll water before the day though last year the ground was good to firm. Either way, 16/1 looks value.
